Our Inspiration

Carrie-On was inspired by Carrie-Mestres, a bright, beautiful 13 year-old girl who was diagnosed at age 11 with an inoperable brain tumor. As Carrie bravely dealt with her illneess, she wanted nothing more than to enjoy her life as fully as she had before she got sick. While attending a one-week camp for children with life-threatening illnesses, Carrie found joy and happiness that had been missing since her diagnosis. Carrie and her family believed that these invaluable days should not be limited to one week each summer.
